What is Wetpour Surface?
Wetpour Surface is the most popular form of safety surfacing and is used in playgrounds across the country, however it can be used in any outdoor area where impact absorbing surfacing is required. It is designed to reduce the chance of injuries caused by falling and jumping from heights on equipment or simply during normal outdoor play. Wetpour can be laid in a wide range of patterns and colours and is fully customised to suit the project requirements.
It is a durable and hard-wearing surfacing material that requires very little maintenance to keep it looking good. Wet pour surfacing is made of two layers; a thick rubber base known as SBR and a rubber crumb top layer called EPDM that is bound together with a polyurethane binder. The base is mixed on site and the surface poured in place. It can be installed in varying thicknesses depending on the critical fall height of any equipment to be installed within the play area and is designed to be completely free from seams.
Choosing the Right Colors and Patterns for Your Wetpour Surface
A bespoke design can be incorporated into the surface to help encourage the children to play and learn, with numbers, letters, or shapes being created to spark their imagination. The color choices are endless and can be matched to any existing equipment or buildings to create a cohesive look that fits into the outdoor learning environment.
A wetpour surfacing company should be able to offer you advice on the best product for your needs and be able to install the system to the highest standards. Make sure you check the number of years they have been in business and ask to see examples of previous projects. Using the best installers ensures that your surface will last and remain safe for years to come.
